Map
of Belcarra
Regional Park
Here's a good little out-and-back workout with views and some switchbacks.
It starts at the Belcarra Regional Park picnic area and ends at
Jug Island Beach. It's more rugged than Admiralty Trail and conveniently
on the other side of the parking lot in case you want to do more.
If you want to add more distance, do Jug Island Beach Trail first
and then do Admiralty, or do Springboard Trail and go around Sasamat
Lake and return.
Dogs are allowed
on-leash.
The
trailhead is in the Belcarra Regional Park parking lot, on the RIGHT
as you face the ocean. It is well marked. Not far along the trail,
you cross a paved road, then keep left (straight ahead is a lookout).
The trail has some interesting switchbacks on its way to the beach
and view of Jug Island. At the beach, climb back up, turn around
and head back.
How to Get There
From North Van, take the Second Narrows Bridge and the Hastings
Exit. Take Hastings Street East till you reach the fork and veer
left to take the Barnet Highway. (Same route that you take to Buntzen
Lake.)
From Vancouver, head to Burnaby and take the Barnet Highway.
In Port Moody, turn left at Ioco Road. At the plaza, turn left to
follow Ioco to First Avenue (school on the corner). Follow the signs
to Belcarra Regional Park.
